My Rocky Patel Edge Maduro Review And 20% Savings

Rocky Patel Edge Maduro Missile TorpedoThe Rocky Patel Edge Maduro Torpedo Missile is just about as bold as they come. While labeled as a medium to full-bodied cigar, the Edge Maduro pushes the envelope with an extremely bold, dark, spicy finish. When Rocky Patel first released this baby, the tagline on the cigar read, “Smoke while sitting down.” In my Rocky Patel Edge Maduro review, I’ll explain what that may be one of the most underrated statements ever made.

My Rocky Patel Edge Maduro Review

I enjoyed my first Edge Maduro about two years ago, and I can say with certainty that I was not prepared for the rush. I had not read about the tagline and didn’t really expect such a powerful smoke. I made a rookie mistake by lighting this cigar very shortly after a long run and on an empty stomach. Big mistake.

Within about 15 minutes, my hands were shaking and the world seemed a bit dizzier. But, being a novice to full-bodied cigars at the time, I pushed on, determined to finish it. The whole experience took roughly an hour, and once I stood up, I knew that I had made a mistake by not eating first.

The rush lasted almost an hour, and “weak in the knees” barely begins to describe the sensation. I was convinced that I’d overdone it and decided to lay off the full-bodied blends for a long, long time.

Of course, like any good hobby, I took another stab at the Edge Maduro a few weeks later. But this time, I prepared better. I didn’t go for a long run beforehand, and I made sure to have a full meal about an hour prior. I invited a friend over to share the experience, and we both really enjoyed the cigar this time around.

Fast forward two years, and I’ve gone through probably 20 of these things since then. Every time, however, I always make sure that I’m correctly prepared for the head rush. The powerful smoke can take its toll if your body isn’t properly adjusted for it. So, if you’re going to step on the Edge, make sure you know what you’re getting into.

About The Rocky Patel Edge Maduro

The Edge Maduro Torpedo Missile Corojo wrapper started with a Cuban seed but grows in Honduras. It’s a joint venture between one of the recent legends in the industry, Rocky Patel, and Nestor Plasencia, the largest tobacco grower in Central America. The wrapper provides a spicy flavor with a tinge of sweetness on the end of the draw. You’ll note hints of pepper and earthiness during the smoke, and possibly an almost coffee-like taste.

The stick measures in at 5 inches long with a 48 gauge, quite typical in size for a Torpedo-style cigar. Rocky Patel started his empire by setting out to create a $10 cigar for around $5. His masterpieces continue to be in the medium price range today, but the overall quality from Rocky Patel generally blows away the competition in that market. The Edge Maduro is well-constructed and has no problems with lighting, drawing, or flakiness.

Bottom Line On The Rocky Patel Edge Maduro

I’m giving this cigar a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. It’s certainly not an everyday cigar, but rather one that should be reserved for special occasions. My only problem with it is that the flavor is sometimes overpowering when you’re not expecting it. If you enjoy full-bodied cigars, definitely pick up a pack of the Edge Maduros and give them a try for yourself.
